Should grouse shooting be banned?

Postby donald.mcphillimy » 26 Sep 2016, 16:29

A petition calling for the banning of grouse shooting has resulted in over 100, 000 signatures leading to a debate in Westminster in the middle of October. You can find out about it here- http://www.parliament.uk/grouse-shootin ... tion125003 You can also write to the petitions committee and get involved. You can read all about the issues in an article in the current issue of the Journal, written by Mark Avery who set up the petition. Suffice it to say, that the more you burn the moors and kill any competition to the grouse, the more you stop the reforestation of Scotland and the diverse ecology associated with that. Grouse moor management, whether it is done responsibly or irresponsibly, stands in the way of healthy communities in a well forested land.
